He was scalded by a pot of tea last week. He spent a few days in hospital. He came out the day before yesterday but is having to go back again tonight because it seems his scalds have become infected.

Please post your support here and anyone with experience of knowledge of burns with advice would be really really helpful.

Thank you.

Love to you Floss and your DS...

What a terrible time you have all had Floss. Totally know where you are coming as the nasty 'mummy' nurse who finds fault (deservingly). Doesn't half improve your own skills at work. Hope your DS comtinues to improve.

So sorry to here your awful week, just posting to add another note of reasurance, I badly burned my leg three months ago when i droped a large pan of boiling water down myself. It looked dreadful all the skin came off and i was convinced i would be badly scared. Amazingly I have not got a mark now. once it healed i rubbed vit e oil into the skin several times a day. Which I think helped.
Also pulled a teapot over me on my 1st birthday and was in hospital for weeks again don't have any scar's at all. Hope your little one is better soon.

Hi Flossam, You are having a horrid time, eh. So sad to read about little Ben and also about your mum. Hope the next week calms down a litttle bit now he's getting treatment for the TSS. Take care, and let everyone know all about his recovery. Good call on the staph infection btw. Make as much a PITA fuss as is needed to ensure top quality treatment - you're only going to be hassling them about stuff which should have be done anyway IYSWIM. X

Flossam · 16/07/2006 20:37

Thank you for all your messages, Mears I feel exactly that. I will hopefully be a better nurse from this at least. Atm though I don't know if I can face going back to work right now. Have decided I won't go back while Ben has dressings on as I will worry about infection, also assuming our CM would be happy to have him in this state, would worry about dressings being pulled off by the other children etc. Also Mum's mastectomy is on Friday and I need to go down for at least a day, wanted to be with her for it really but I can't bear to be too far for too long from Frenchay with DS. So DP will drive us down for the day either sat/sun I hope.

I know I am rambling again but mum is not so good, she is not making much sense, repeating herself and doing silly things. She has managed to infect her finger gardening and now has what I think is cellulitus on her arm. She wants to be put on tranquilizers because she just isn't coping.

Miaou · 16/07/2006 20:52

oh Floss, how awful, what a time you are having . I will hold your mum and Ben in my thoughts this week. (((hugs))) it must be hard to be strong just now.

expatinscotland · 16/07/2006 21:09

Floss, (((HUGS))) and to your DS as well!

Gees, between your son having this happen and nulnulcat's DD having viral meningitis, it's been a frightful time on this board.

pinkandsparkly · 16/07/2006 21:31

Hi flossam, just caught up with what you've been going through. My brother pulled a pan of chip fat over himself as a toddler. Fat had been cooling for several hours but was still very hot and blistered his arm. He has no scar whatsoever and is now a strapping 26 year old.

Glad ds is on mend, hope your dm's op is successful, lots of people will be thinking/praying for her.

hunkermunker · 16/07/2006 21:36

Flossam, I think of you SO often - ring me if you need to (I'll email you my number).

We're hoping to come to Bristol for the balloon weekend - will give you the hug I want to give you right now then.

Cuddle Ben from me - and loads of love to you all - will be thinking of you especially on Friday, sweetheart.

WideWebWitch · 16/07/2006 21:40

I've only just seen this, bloody hell Floss, poor you, that's an awful week, god, how terrifying. Thinking of you.

Flossam · 16/07/2006 22:00

I didn't know about nulnulcat's DD. How frightening. Hunker, thank you, would be brilliant to see you that weekend, we'll have to arrange something. WWW, I know, I can only hope this week gets better! Almost frightened to leave the house atm.

expatinscotland · 16/07/2006 22:02

she was finally able to bring her home last week, flossam, but it was very, very scary, of course. poor soul!

glad to hear your son is on the mend.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 17/07/2006 11:21
