Hi. Hoping someone can offer some guidance. My Dad (aged 73) has been on tablets for diabetes for a few years. It was decided a couple of months ago that he needed to change to Insulin, which he has done.
He takes his blood 4 times a day and is keeping readings, doing injections as directed by diabetic nurse but getting himself more and more down about it everyday as the readings are so erratic. One will be pretty good then the next really bad despite him thinking he is doing all he can be eating properly etc.
When he phones the nurse to let her know what the readings are she alters the amount of insulin and he does as she says but still things stay erratic. He has been told it takes 3 months or so to get on a balance but is getting more and more worked up that despite really cutting his diet down (and being hungry a lot of the time) that he is getting nowhere. He has tried reading so many packets/jars to see what he can and can't eat but is getting very confused with it all now. Yesterday he told me he feels ill all the time, has headaches, aches and pains and feels his life is not worth living anymore!!!
Any help gratefully received.
