Just that really!
I've had what I thought was an ingrown hair for a couple of weeks and after some googling I think it's actually a bartholin cyst, it's started to get really sore when walking/standing/sitting etc.

Should I go to the docs on monday or just wait for it to go away on its own? I hate the thought of getting my foof out for no reason!

Oh loho I feel for you. I had one for Christmas one year-it was awful, grimacing through the festive period.

I booked a GP appointment, then it really snowed and I had to cancel the appointment and book for the next week. It popped on it's own before the appointment came round. The relief!

DontForgetTheLightAlesLawrence · 16/11/2013 11:41

Yes I would. I had one, which I left and left. It popped on its own eventually, but I was quite poorly as it had become infected and I needed some antibiotics.

Bloody horrid things!

Ooh and the smelly gunk which they produce is truly breathtaking Hmm

I will admit to trying to pop it myself (yuk) and I've probably made it worse.

Not helped by the fact I just plopped myself down on a wooden chair without thinking- ouch!

Will definately make an appointment on monday

I'm sure there will be a number of helpful MNers along in a wee while with plenty of advice.

They may want photographic evidence.

NellysKnickers · 16/11/2013 13:41

Pop a hot flannel on it and have lots of long soaks in hot baths. I had one once, it poppedwith a bit of help in the bath, oh the relief!

Queenofknickers · 16/11/2013 13:42

Don't want I alarm but I was sent to hospital with Bartholins cyst/abscess. Had surgery next day - was fine but was seen ASAP.

denialandpanic · 16/11/2013 15:11

I had one recently and the pain was awful but it also made me feel very unwell.I was put on a weeks quite strong anti biotic and the gp said if it hadn't resolved in three days would need to be treated at hospital. luckily it burstAngry . the thing is I am on immune suppressant drugs and I don't know how much worse that made it than typical.it certainly influenced gp choice of medication.

Jesus wept, photographic evidence?! Haha

Second best bit of relief ever is that "pop".

(Best is passing a kidney stone!)
