Can I sort this with salt water rinses or will I need antibiotics?

I have pericoronitis, and am wondering if i can sort it with salt water rinses and spin killers, or I f I should ask for antibiotics? Dentist is aware, have been referred to oral surgeon due to awkward position but long long waiting. Had this in Jine, phoned her and she gave me antibiotics. Saw her two weeks ago for check up, when everything was fine but said she would like it to come out. Pain started yesterday, quite bad overnight, taking paracetamol and ibuprofen. Salt rinses started last night.

So, wait a while or phone for antibiotics. She said she/ we would need to 'manage it' while I am waiting for hospital.

Salt water is good, peri coronets is fairly self limiting so unless you start to swell up then you don't NEED antibiotics, it will just speed things up a bit.

Otherwise you're doing everything right, do you clean under the gum at all if your tooth is partially erupted?

Thank you mrs Morton! I hoped you might be around!

I am doing my best with cleaning, I use a sonic are brush and pay particular attention to that tooth, and I use teepee brushes too, but there isn't much room. The pain is actually in the tooth next to it but it has been deemed healthy.

How often should I be rinsing?

Whenever you like really. At least twice a day I reckon, after eating in case there are any bits under the gum.
