DS1 (5yrs) has been complaining of tummy pains. He seems fine otherwise but I wondered if there is anything I could give him to help. I know calpol is the first thing I thought of but is there anything else. Also wondered if giving him Actimel or live yoghurt would help. TIA for any suggestions.

Depends what's wrong - tummy pains is such a general thing and can mean a lot of different things in kids. Could be precursor to a bug, could be an intolerance to something in his diet, could be not recognising that he needs the toilet...? It could be anxiety - kids dont' get headaches the way grownups do, sometimes if they're upset or anxoius they get a sore tummy.

DD (no 5 1/2) did this off and on for a long time and to be honest we never really discovered a cause (or a cure). She still says it from time to time and I just tell her to sit quietly for a few minutes.

Thanks Sugar... I dont doubt he has tummyache coz he is prone to being sick if there is any bug going he gets it, but I rather think he is playing on it so he doesnt have to go to school
