I gave my ankle a knock 18 months ago

I slipped on a rock and gave it a really big bash - didn't turn or twist it, just knocked but it was properly hard.

At the time it swelled a lot - people would ask what I had done without me pointing it out iyswim - but it wasn't that painful after the initial impact. The next day, with the support of strong boots I climbed a mountain!

We were on holiday and by the time we got back the swelling had more or less gone, so I assumed it was healing and didn't get any attention for it.

However, 18 months on it's really causing me some pain. Not when I'm on it, but when i'm still for any length of time. Driving is particularly difficult. I can't drive for more than 40 mins without having to stop and walk around for a bit. It really does hurt, in a I want to cry kind of way.

Is it worth seeking help now, or is it too late/do I just need to wait longer for it to heal? I did read at the time that a bruised bone can take 12m+ to heal (and I'm not as young as I was!)

Definitely get it looked at! Don't be a hero, you need to get it checked out.
