Does this sound like a food intolerance? (or just bad luck re tummy bugs)

Moved to new country about six months ago. I have been vaguely aware that I seem to have been getting more tummy bugs but just dismissed it as new country maybe new water or something.

But it seems to be getting worse and more frequent. Previously about every 4-6 weeks but last gap only two weeks.

General pattern is that I feel a bit unwell, almost like flu but I am still abound to funcion. Then I have runny tummy and feel better.

This last time has been awful, I have felt so unwell since Sunday. Headache, aching body, nausea, very tired. Even a bit of stabbing pain in my ears. I was actually really worried I was pregnant as it felt like extreme early pregnancy.
This morning it came to a head and I actually soiled myself in public as I s taken surprise by extreme diarrhoea. All day I have been on and off the loo. Now this evening I feel 100% again.

I'm toying with making a dr appointment. My mil thinks its a food intolerance but it just seems so prolonged and extreme. Oh and also I barely ate anything from Sunday lunch onwards as I have felt so ill.

Any thoughts???
Thanks so much

It sounds like it could be either.... Think you need to see doc to rule out a few things. Coeliac (intolerance to gluten/wheat) can be like your symptoms but blood test can be done for that. Could be a lingering bug though so if you can rule that out then you could do a food diary to check if particular food upsetting you.

Thanks for replying

Ill phone for a doc app tomorrow.

It just seems so odd to me, the flu type symptoms then the upset tummy. I was thinking if it was a food intolerance then surely I would have an explosive tummy immediately.

Anyway yes I'm sure it is best to go to a doc rather than second guessing. I'm at the stage now where I am really dreading another 'attack' of whatever it is.
I've lost so much weight with this. At first I was quite pleased. But I wasn't massive to start with, had lost 8lb since July. And now after this latest bout I've weighed myself and I'm another 2 lb down.
