So I had my first DC 15 weeks ago. Two weeks ago I had a smear and copper coil put in.

Had to do the fists under buttocks thing which is pretty standard for me, but all looked ok and 'cervix looks like it hadn't just given birth' Hmm

That was all fine and as I left the nurse told me I needed to check the threads every so often, and told me the best way.

I just tried to feel them now and I can't find my cervix! My vagina feels like it splits into three dead ends :( after a few attempts at sweeping my fingers around I came across something that felt like a thread but it appeared to move down when I touched it.

Why do I have a multi dimensional fanjo? Could I have accidentally pulled the coil out when I touched the threads?

Feeling like a cavernous freak right now :(

I find it easier to find my cervix while squatting down from a standing position. Unfortunately my threads (and coil) have gone a bit awol so can no longer find them at all.

Thanks powerhoop. That's what I was doing... but then I got lost at the newly created intersection.

I'm guessing that pelvic floor exercises aren't going to be much use that far up :(

Are you not a bit panicky about awol coil? Eek!

I have had an ultrasound and x-ray and am being referred for a trans vaginal scan (dildo probe up the fanjo...nice!) before ending up being referred to gynae where hopefully they will find it somewhere in my pelvis and remove it. They can apparently migrate through the wall of the womb and end up places they shouldnt be. Am now taking the mini pill alongside the mirena as it may not be providing contaception if it isnt in the right place in my womb.

It's no fun being a woman, I am sure it must be dh's turn to deal with contraception

I Had mirena coil fitted a year ago and have never been able to feel the threads! I went back after the first month as I was worried and the dr had a feel and eventually found them, thought she was gonna lose her arm up there at one point! Blush she said my cervix leans back Hmm so I've stopped trying to find the threads! Need an annual check soon so hopefully all is still in place!

Being a woman properly sucks, doesn't it?

I had a surprise dildocam (tv) scan when I was 20 weeks pg - fortunately a friend had had one at 12 weeks so I knew there was a possibility otherwise I would not have shaved my legs been prepared. It was much less trouble than usual fun and games, thankfully. No speculum or anything like that.

So threads are hard to find - anyone else have a multi directional fanjo tho? Think that's what I'm most bothered about. There can't be much very wrong or the doctor would have said something but it was never like this before.
