Started two weeks ago.. low abdominal pain just above my bladder.. feels like the worst period pains ever..except I had a hysterectomy 10 years ago. It's not IBS.. I have that and the pain is very different. I have NO appetite and have lost a few pounds already.

Went to docs who prescribe Tramadol, and thought it might be an ovarian cyst. It got so bad on monday I went back and was sent to hospital where they did an ultrasound.. ovaries normal. My heart rate was high and had a temp so they put me ona drip for a few hours and gave me morphine for the pain ..first time of no pain in 2 weeks. They don't think it's my appendix as it's not typical for that.

However as they couldn't see WHY they sent me home, said to take the meds and come back if it gets worse!

Today has been awful ..the pain comes in waves and goes though me bladder, back, low abdomen. I'm shaking with it. Taken tramadol and paracetamol with no relief.

I do understand that they aren't magicians and can't see inside me but something is wrong. I'm signed off work for the week but resting isn't helping..I'm dozing in and out of a pain filled haze.

What do I do? I don't want to be sent in to be sent home again.I hate hospitals. Do I give it a couple more days and go back to the GP? I'm really scared, but I'm even more scared of going to hospital and being treated as a nuisance!

You poor thing, if Tramadol can't soothe it you must be in some serious pain. I think you should go back now, if you don't the medical staff will assume your symptoms got better. They said to come back if it got worse ...and it has, you're not a time waster.
I presume they already tested your urine?

I had something like this a few years ago... throwing up from pain. Never properly diagnosed but they thought maybe a bladder infection. I'd been doing the Atkins diet - heavy protein load.
Gall stones? Kidney stones? Poor you.

No idea but pain that bad shouldn't be there - especially without a reason/known cause. Go back.

Hope you better soon

Well you have the symptoms of fighting an infection. Go back to doctor or hospital. Make sure you lay on exactly how much pain you're in - making sure you describe your pain at its worst. Get them to do blood tests and further scans to find out what's wrong.

Hopefully it's nothing too bad but you need to make sure and find out what it is. Keep on top of your painkillers too.

Hope you're ok. I know what it's like to be in pain like that and not know why, and it's a horrible feeling. Just don't let them keep sending you away.

I really feel for you. I had pain similar to what you are describing and it turned out to be a kidney stone. It started off with intermittent pains for a few days which gradually got worse and worse. Painkillers didn't touch it until they prescribed morphine. Mine was diagnosed with an abdominal x-ray and an IVU, but often kidney stones don't show up on normal x-rays. If it gets stuck it can cause a fever and symptoms of infection.

Whatever it is, I hope they sort it out soon. You really should go back, you are not being a nuisance and don't deserve to be in this much pain.

I would go back to the GP as a matter of urgency and insist that you are now referred to the gynae unit at hospital.

Why was the hysterectomy carried out initially?. I only ask that because if that was due to very painful or heavy periods then endometriosis may have caused that.

If endometriosis was on the ovaries now an ultrasound scan would not have detected it.

Whatever the cause, it needs investigating now. Do not put up with this and you will not be treated as a nuisance.

Thanks for your advice. I went back to the gp this morning and she had sent me back into hospital.
They have no idea what is wrong but have given me some lovely oromorph which is making me MN in a happy haze Grin Grin
hopefully they will find out what is wrong or at least try some different meds.

Hope they find out what's wrong soon. And I like oramorph for pain - makes me feel really weird and spacey though.

Hope you get a good nights sleep tonight.
