I have always had very painful periods, which have got worse as ive got older. Have often ended up on the floor in pain. Periods aren't heavy though and never have been.

I did once ask for it to be investigated, as I am pretty sure I have endo, but my gp refused to refer me unless I tried having a coil first Hmm

Anyhow, the past few months ive been getting pain in my back, either side of my spine, low down, and moving around to the sides. It's a dull ache, that feels like my insides are aching, not my back, if that makes sense. It makes me feel really tired, and at the same time I also feel really full, and like I have eaten too much.
This month the pain was really bad, and came about half way through my cycle, and lasted for a week.

So, fast forward to now, and my period is late. Back pain is there ocasionally but not much, but i do still feel full alot of the time, and tired.

I know I should just go to the docs, and I will when i get 5 minutes where I am not sorting out someone elses ill health, but does this sound like a cyst ?? Google is saying yes, but I know it's bad to google lol

Could be a cyst and/or endometriosis.

Is there another Gp at your practice you can go to to request a referral?

Can't see how a GP can insist on you having a coil if you don't want one and you sound like you need to see a specialist.

Stick to your guns, you dont need to suffer.

Thank you Miss Marple. There are other gp's yes, so I will book with someone else.

Also realised I have pain in my right side too.

Think i'm just falling apart lol

Bless you its horrible. My 16 yr old is going through same at moment.

Have you tried the mini pill? Supressing the hormones that stimulate the cycle &therefore the bleeding of rogue endo cells can help.

Forget google here; you need a diagnosis first and foremost.

Given the fact as well that you've always had painful periods, I would think that endometriosis cannot be ruled out here. Also a person can have "chocolate cysts" which are also related to endometriosis.

If the previous GP you saw was unhelpful (and this person indeed was) see another within the practice or change GP practice. Having a coil inserted before referral is really not necessary. Many GPs are not up to speed when it comes to such gynae problems and never give endometriosis a thought.

Mid cycle pain particularly if cyclical is also a big indicator of endometriosis. Any symptom that is cylical in nature and gets worse up to and including menses should be checked further to see if endometriosis is the root cause.

I would keep a daily pain (note scale of pain from one to ten and where it is cited) and symptom diary up to and including menses. This could be useful to the gynae as well.

I would also now return to the GP and insist most strongly to this person that you are referred to a gynae specialist asap for further evaluation. It needs and warrants further investigation. You do not have to put up with this and should not either!!!.

BTW www.endo.org.uk is a good website.

Thanks all Smile

Couldn't ring for an appointment this morning, so going to try at 2, when the line opens again.

I was on the pill for years, and the pain was better then but still didn't dissapear completely.

Good luck Nutcracker. I'm going through the same at the moment and it isn't nice at all - when DD sits on my knee it's like someone's bludgeoning my insides with a sledgehammer!
Keeping everything crossed for you.
