Who stocks rubber baby glass frames?

Hi all,

Hopefully someone knows the answer to this.

DD 6 months old has a profound squint and the private consultant we took her to, has prescribed glasses but has suggested strongly we get rubber frames - like comobaby.

After traipsing round Westfields in London today, the result is none of the opticians stock these or anything similar.

Any advice of how we should obtain them (we live SW London so have the capital to choose from)?

Thanks in advance

G

I don't know if this will be of use, but how about the children's clinic at City University? They train optometrists and dispensing opticians and are used to seeing complicated cases. I know you already have a prescription but they may be able to dispense it, or to advise where to go if they can't.

The clinic is in Old Street, so not particularly convenient for you.

Any big teaching hospitals near you? A lot of them have a dispensing opticians section who do the miraflex, have just ordered them for my 3 yo .

There's a Facebook page for Miraflex www.facebook.com/miraflexeyewear that could be used to find the nearest optician who sells them.

You need to go to a small independant optometrist who will be able to order some in on approval for you to see/try on. I am South Yorks/North Notts borders so too far from you, but that is what we would do for a patient.

Go to one of the following in SW London:

Shannon & Carton, SW4
Meridex Opticians, SW8
Perfect Vision, SW12
Tolley & Partners, SW14
Day Lewis Opticians, SW19

Specsavers do them. They just order them in. Babyvistas are very common around here (West Country) and they will probably work out better as they offer trivex lenses as well (which all rubber/silicone/miraflex need, partly because of their UV protection but also because they are much tougher then standard plastic)
