Hair loss (in my 50s) - what blood tests should I ask for?

I'm going to see a GP this week, but as there are no appointments for weeks, the receptionist advised going to the walk-in surgery.

Which means I am quite possibly going to see a young not very experienced GP, and it would help to have some ideas of my own as to what to possibly check (I'm good at being tactful so they hopefully won't feel bossed Grin.

I'm past menopause, so some hair thinning is to be expected, but I'm losing 50-60 hairs every time I wash it, and more inbetween, and it's freaking me out Sad

You need to get blood tests for ferritin, zinc, vitamin B and D levels, and hormones, amongst others I'm sure, to check you are not deficient in anything. It is worth taking a good multivitamin and a B-complex vitamin.

Fellow hair loss sufferer here. Good luck.

It's awful but I am trying to come to terms with it, it has only taken over a year! It is something that I am going to have to deal with the rest of my life I think as I have been diagnosed with hereditary hair loss.
