Newborn poo - is this normal???

Sorry to bring this subject up but I can't for the life of me remember what DD1's poo used to be be like and I'm a little concerned about the consistency of the stuff that appears to explode out of poor little 4 week old dds's bottom.

Anyway - the colour is OK I think because it's yellow-ish but the consistency is still very much like liquid - no paste at all - so when she goes, it goes everywhere and I've lost count of the number of vests I've had to cut off her and discard as they've been completely unsalvageable!

So question is - is quite liquid poo normal at this stage? I ask because it also seems to cause her masses of discomfort too. She's entirely breast fed by the way.

Yes! Explosive bf poo - I vividly remember that.

What are you eating? I had to cut out most acidic foods for a while there and it was terrible b/c I LOVE spicy food and wasn't able to tolerate it whilst pregnant.

the first time my dd had one of those poos was when she was 3 days old and i had her all dressed up in the cutest (and most difficult to get on) babygro as my parents were coming to see her. picked her up a they came in the door and it was everywhere... her whole back, babygro, crib. there was more poo than baby!

kept happening til she started solids at 4 months but even now her poo tends to be quite soft and gooy and she's 17 months
