how can you tell if your 12 -24 mths old got water infection?

just curious as my niece had got water infection atm but how can you tell?

Frequent urination,complaining of tummy ache,burning sensation.

my son was screaming and crying when he had a wee, he's 3.
He lay on the floor holding his willy and weed his self as he was so scared to go coz it hurt.

The most obvious symptom is pain or stinging when she wees. The GP can check a sample of urine to see if there's any sign of infection.

how would i know if my 21 mths old DD have it? as she does normally wee alot or is that normal?
