i removed all the 'stem' as it rubbed and it was not of any help to me on removal of the mc.

Orlando · 06/07/2006 11:11

Does anyone else have problems with removing it? I found it totally brutal and barbaric at first, though I am getting better at it and am smugly impressed with how easy it is to 'push' down. But a bit of tugging is still required and I'm wondering if there's any risk of a prolapse of some kind. It's the suction that bothers me.

expatinscotland · 06/07/2006 11:14

If it's up too high, Orlando, yes, I have had trouble removing it!

Try pinching hte base instead of the stem and then squeezing. That should release the suction.

foxinsocks · 06/07/2006 11:18

do you have lots of them or do you only ever need one?

expatinscotland · 06/07/2006 11:18

you just need one.

Orlando · 06/07/2006 11:18

When you say 'trouble' expat, was it the kind of trouble that involved taking all your clothes off and sprawling in an extremely unglamorous manner with one foot in the bath and the other on the loo seat?

Suffice it to say it'll be a while before I'm casually whipping out my Mooncup in the loos at M&S...

Ahhh... Thanks. Will trim more off and try again.

While I enjoyed the film 'Carrie' I have little enthusiasm for constantly re-enacting the prom scene in my bathroom.

matnanplus · 06/07/2006 11:25

You only need 1 tho i have 2 so one with me in handbag and 1 at home.

Would hate to have to go back to pads for even a few hours should i not have it or misplace it.

I squidge the body of the mc to alter the rim shape before removal and yes it did migrate north once and it was a deep fishing experience.

Tanktop · 06/07/2006 11:30

What the heck is a mooncup? Am I behind the times. (havent read all of this thread so if this Q has already been asked Sorry)

Bugsy2 · 06/07/2006 11:33

I am turning into a weirdo. I am a MC voyeur. Have no desire to get one at all, but am fascinated at the same time!!! Need to get out more!!!

spidermama · 06/07/2006 11:41

No time to read thread but ..... WAY HEY PRUNI!!!! Well done for taking the plunge.

I find the 'blood' changes in thickness and character throughout the period. Sometimes it's watery, sometimes really thick and dark.

matnanplus · 06/07/2006 11:43

it is a silicone 'egg cup' that is placed inside the vagina to collect menstral blood, a bit like the diaphram.

here

Tanktop · 06/07/2006 11:51

Thanks Matnanplus, just had a quick look and not sure what I think of it yet. Obviously they havent made it over to italy yet (not at all surprised at that) as the website doesnt even have a italian language option. Will read further.

Nanou1 · 06/07/2006 11:51

can i just say a big thank you. this thread has been most entertaining!!!

matnanplus · 06/07/2006 12:01

glad Nanou1.

They will post from the UK tho Tanktop.

I would never go back and worked out that tho mine cost £19.99 at Boots, the cost was recouped in 4 months!

Nanou1 · 06/07/2006 12:05

am very tempting ... think i shall head to boots at lunchtime.

matnanplus · 06/07/2006 12:21

Check the website to see if it is stocked near you.

Nanou1 · 06/07/2006 12:27

thank you for advice! i did check yesterday and they stock it. a friend has been trying to convince me to get one for over 1 year now. like most of you here, she said there is no going back!

matnanplus · 06/07/2006 12:33

Take the plunge

PrettyCandles · 06/07/2006 16:34

Removal (yes, getting it not quite right can be like extracting a plunger): I find that, if it's gone too high, it helps to pinch the base between thumb and middle finger, pull down slightly while bearing down, that gives me the chance to reach slightly higher and pinch just above the base, again with thum and middle finger, and squeeze while rotating. It sort of spirals down, and then I remove it - oh, I can't remember now whether I take the front edge of the rim out first or the back edge, but it's a sort of rocking movement, rather than trying to get the whole rim out in one go. Sounds complicated, but you do get the knack eventually. I never managed to follow their advice to reach up the side and break the suction at the rim.

CarolinaMoose · 08/07/2006 10:06

you'd have to be a contortionist to reach the rim PC

If you squeeze it at the front and back, you can slide one side out (to the side) and then the other side follows easily . Squeezing the base is enough to break the suction IME.
