Emetophobe with vomiting bug - being me your sympathy (warning: self pitying)

So here I am....a massive emetophobic with a vomiting bug. It's DH's birthday weekend. I have a breastfed, co-sleeping 7mo baby next to me in bed who won't take a bottle and I'm trying to avoid puking or shitting on him. I've only been back at work full time for a week and a half and I'm in charge of the whole company next week as my boss is away. Argggh.

My three year old has spent all evening dispensing sympathy "poor mummy...you are a bit disgusting" as I lie draped over the toilet seat.

I'm typing this in a post-vomit moment of strength. I've disinfected everything and used that Purell anti-virus handgel (too late).

I can't even keep down water. Bring me your sympathy please to read during the awake moments....

Aw bless you. If it helps I know what your going through - I am an Emetephobe with morning sickness, its rubbish. I hope your feeling better soon Thanks

Oh no, fellow emetophobe here.

Really really hope you get a good sleep nd stop being sick soon

Xxxxx

Thanks for the sympathy.

I honestly find vomiting worse than some of the more serious ailments I've had.

I think I would rather have another baby than vomit. (Except for the risk of morning sickness, so scrap that idea....I'm clearly delusional and suffering from dehydration.) I hope your morning sickness clears up soon Bat. X

Huge total sympathy .I'm not phobic but I hate ,hate sickness .

To have that ,a baby and a 3 year old !!! Excuse me while I faint at the idea .

I suppose an injection from OHH GP not a possibilty ? Or buccastem ( dissolve on gum line tabs ) are not an option?

They would quell the vomiting ,but if it's a bug I think ( not sure ) you need to expell from system . Or is that old wives tale ?

I would definitely rather have a baby than vomit! After I gave birth I was really clear that the only thing I was apprehensive about doing again was morning sickness. Now here I am, with morning sickness again and after this pregnancy I will be taking permanent measures to ensure it is the last. Labour holds no fears for me in comparison to puking.

Hope your stomach bug is short-lived and that you are feeling better soon.

Hope you feel better this morning?

justmuddlingalongsomehow · 27/10/2013 07:22

Rubyroo - you poor thing. I hope by this morning that things are easing . Fortunately bugs like that are generally short lived. Come and join us on the emetophobe group in mental health if you need to! Lovely people we are just all slightly derailed by this phobia.

Just think - you've done it - you've faced your worst fear and all that with a baby and a three yr old in tow!!! Go you Thanks and a cup of black Brew xxxx

Thanks everyone. I haven't vomited for a few hours now so I'm hoping that the worst part is over. Still feel awful but I haven't eaten for a while and I'm low on fluids...sipping water slowly now.

The irony is that the baby (who decided to wake up an unprecedented 12 times for a feed last night) did in fact throw up on me in my bed. He has a cold and his phlegm got the better of him.

I must remember when making rash statements like having a baby is better than being sick that eventually you get the baby and then they are sick on you. Grin

Thanks again. It did cheer me up to read all your lovely messages.
