Itching driving me mad but there's nothing there?

It's been about 2 months now. The skin on my throat and the uppermost part of my chest itches continuously but the skin looks completely normal.

Any ideas what it might be or what I can do about it?

Yes I thought about that but wouldn't there be a rash?

I stopped using perfume and haven't changed my soap, moisturiser or washing powder. I can't think oof anything else?

Yes, I know I should, but it seems such a trivial thing to take to the GP.

I recently had a persistent itch in exactly the same place, which I did scratch; after a few weeks it became unbearably inflamed, and spread up my neck. I ended up going to the GP in desperation and was prescribed a cortisone (I think) cream called Eumovate, which cleared it up within a couple of days. The relief! GP wasn't sure if it was an allergy or a virus, but whatever it was, it seems to have gone - hope yours clears up too!
