new born hearing test is it essential?

took dd for new born hearing test this a.m, but she woke up so she couldn't continue. was made to feel bad that dd wasn't asleep. they want to try again this p.m, but i just want to call and cancel, is it important?

Its not essential, but it is way more accurate than the old 'distraction' test, adn if your dd did have anything wrong with her hearing, the best way to help her is as early as possible.
Hope she stays asleep and you manage to get it done somehow! You shouldn't have been made to feel bad that she wasn't asleep. With dd2 (it wasn't introduced here when I had my other dd or ds) they did it the day after she was born in the hospital.

our maty unit do this prior to discharge. didnt seem to make any difference as ds2 was awake then fell asleep.
