Nursery worker with viral meningitis

Does anyone know what if any risk there is of this being contagious if the care worker has been off work for 10 days since symptoms started.
I stupidly just assumed if she is at back at work then there can't be a risk but now I am home I wish I had asked that question.
TIA

Viral meningitis isn't contagious in the same way that, say, chicken pox is. I don't fully understand the science, but you can catch the virus without it developing into meningitis, I believe.

Bacterial meningitis is spread by close contact (such as kissing) I think.

Someone much more knowledgable will be along soon.

Thanks I did try googling it myself and ended up a bit baffled! I think it said you could get it from d and v type bugs and passed through bodily secretions so I figured nursery workers are in that sort of contact with the little ones.

This is from the meningitis.org website:

"The risk to contacts is very low. Viral meningitis does not normally require public health measures to be taken because although some of the viruses that cause it are contagious, most people infected have no symptoms, or only very mild ones. A person with viral meningitis may pass on the virus, but this would be very unlikely to cause another person to develop viral meningitis as well."
