Started yesterday and is so bad I have hardly slept - am BF ing 16 week old DS so may be limited on what I can take.
DH had something similar and ended up on antibiotics as became ulcerated - so it really isn't just a run of the mill sore throat.
Help - am at home alone with DD and DS all day today so need to be on form!

Get a numbing throat spray, they are AMAZING. Ask at the pharmacy, they're behind the counter usually. Not sure re BFing. There are also brilliant numing tablets called Tyrozets - the only thing that got me through last winter, horrible tonsilitis etc.

Hope you feel better soon. Honey is also what you need, works faaaaar better than halls soothers etc.

Can you gargle with warm salt water? Hope you're feeling better.

You need to suck the tryozets as far back in your mouth as possible (I broke them in half and did half at a time as was easier) - otherwise you just get a numb tongue.

Try the spray, it's a lifesaver.

Pure honey on a spoon works, and can't you take any painkillers while breastfeeding ?

Difflam throat spray

Gargle with soluble codeine

Strepsils with local anaesthetic

(obv check with pharmacist that the above are ok while bfing)

Gargle with salty water - it is vile but really really effective - as well as paracetemol and honey and lemon drink. A friend swears by raw onion too!
