DS2 22 (living back at home after finishing uni hence mum posting) had a tuna pasta bake for dinner 2 nights ago cooked by me. The only difference was that I could not buy the packet powder you add milk to in the supermarket and bought a jar of prepared sauce.
Less than an hour after dinner I noticed DS's face was swollen!
He went to WIC where nurse gave him piriton and got him to wait around for about an hour to observe him and then sent him home with some paperwork on anaphylaxis.
The next morning his face & neck were massive. He looked like he had put on 3st over night (
he is very slim).
He went to GP to be looked at by 2 GPs who couldn't believe it was mumps because he was in fact very well and had had MMR.
They sent him to A&E where he was examined by a young doctor, who then had to explain him to a Senior Doctor who told my DS2 that he reckoned that once before in his career he had seen an allergy to hollandaise sauce.
Obviously I will never buy that jar of sauce again, but if he has had a reaction like this once, what will the reaction be next time?
Should he be asking for some sort of allergy testing?
