Right,, anyone had breast implants?

I have been thinking of having some for years, even more so after breastfeeding, have done all my research, nearly there with the funds and going to book a consultation in about 4 weeks.
Anyone any experience good or bad??

My couson had hers done about 3 years ago she was fed up of having no boobs & having to wear padded bras so she went & had them done she went for a size c & they look really good & she has had no problems, she said it was the best thing she ever done, goodluck

The only person I know to have them felt very strongly for a long time (from being around 17 to about 30), decided to get them done, was really happy etc etc.

However 10 years on, she bitterly regrets it - says it is the one thing she has done that she would give almost anything to undo.

IMO it is something you need to be really sure about.

I have felt like this for a long time as well, do you know why she regrets it?
I know they can need replaced after around 10 years.

I don't know about the replacment thing, she does not talk about the physical aspect of it all as she is very private in that way.

Regrets, well, so far (I am still working on this one);

she wanted tehm becasue she had low self eteem and thought they would help....

They didn't (obv.) in fact they have made it worse as now she is sure that everyone (inc. her husband) only likes her because she has large breasts.

They are physically quite large (although only 1 ish cup size), meaning that she has some trouble with her back now (always dodgy but not helped by the extra weight)

She is very very concious of herself, thinks it is obvious what they are and that women are staring at her cause she has them.

thinks they make her look large (she is stick thin apart from them) so is always dieting in an effort to kind of even herself out....

I know this is all a self esteem issue, but she (and I) are convinced that she would have conquered that much better wothout the implants.

Ah I see, I don't really have low self esteem thankfully, im just not that fond of my boobs, apart from that i don't really have any issues.

Well, I have to say I am a no issue person really, however her experience has put me off ever having them - but htat is because I see it close up IYKWIM.

One of my best friends had them put in when she was 34. She had wanted them a long, long time.

She has anything but a low self-esteem, but she is quite tall and larger framed, and although she was - and still is - in amazing shape physically, she had NO boobs.

She went from a AA to a C in one operation, then to a D in another operation a year later. Her implants were put in thru her navel and then inflated w/saline.

On her, the size looks great b/c she is not a tiny-boned person.

She went for a 'teardrop' shape.

She has NO regrets and I have to say she looks fab at 40!

my best friend had them about 7 years ago, she says the novalty of going from saggy to firm still hasn't worn off! I would love to have implants as I have a good figure but absolutly no boobies (exept at mo am breast feeding and have a small handfull!) but my husband is so anti-boob jobs I don't think I will.

Never had them, I used to know a few girls with implants, but they were mainly in the ridiculous comedy breasts a la Jordan category (to further themselves in the industry they worked in), they were pretty happy with them. Although one woman's scar capsule (the little scar tissue shell that develops inside the breast around the impnat) went very hard and brittle and adhered to her chest wall, so her breasts has absolutely no movement and looked like half coconut shells under the skin. Everybody develops this scar capsule, but no one can guarantee whether it will be of the softer more flexible variety or the harder sort. I suppose that's one of the major risks you take by having the surgery (as well as the usual risks of GA etc).

All I will say is PLEASE, PLEASE RESEARCH YOUR SURGEON. Get word of mouth recommendation if you can. Don't get done by a cowboy, or someone who is 'cheap', it's really not worth it.

And yes, you will have to have them replaced. I think the average lifespan on an implant is around 10 years.

Expat, i am also tall and i think if i was shorter then i would look more in proportion, but as i probably wont start to shrink for another 30 years i'll get the boobs done haha!

I have researched thoroughly NomdePlume and have checked out the qualifications of surgeons who are all specialists in cosmetic surgery etc, I have to be reffered up as well through my own GP even though I am paying for it privately, its a very well known hospital in Glasgow, its not the cheapest option thats there, but rather safe than sorry!!

I'd be scared of the recovery - itsn't it supposed to hurt self inflicting pain - just couldn't get past that thought really!

My pal is 5ft., 9 in., hoola, and she is medium-boned. On her, it looks FAB. She wasn't really in proportion enough for her liking.

I appreciate that it's a personal thing.

She loves her body, that was just something she wanted for change for a long time.

I was there for the recovery - we were single at the time (we're both happily married now ) - and took a couple of days off work to help care for her - she had the operation on Wednesday morning and by the following Monday was over the worst of it.

She couldn't get her hands up to wash her hair for a bit, which was a pest b/c she had long, thick hair to the middle of her back.

She got it corn-rowed before the surgery!

Also, she wisely had her underarms waxed.
