Vaseline in the nostrils is meant to stop the pollen getting in.

littlerach · 29/06/2006 21:23

Yes, to both vaseline and honey, though I haven't tried the honey.

When she gets changed, get het to do this in the bathroom, not her bedroom, as then the polen stays there.

Is her problem mainly nasal? Just asking because DS has a prescription for eye drops as well as his medication. He is 5 as well. He has chlorphenamine and his dosage is 4x a day so he gets the boost all through the day. This is a pain because I have to sign forms and lodge bottles with CM and school but does help DS.

I wish. We just persevere and argue and try different positions. Funnily enough he is fine with his teacher.

DS's eyes are one of his worst problems, when the hot weather first started they were so bad that the school rung me up at work.

Hi Orinoco, sorry to hear that your dd is suffering. My ds had a bad attack earlier this season. He doesn't usually get it but this attack was a bad one. He was up to 1am crying and rubbing his eyes raw. I had started giving him homeopathic remedies before the attack and had to increase them after the attack. To minimise the effects I gave him an eye mask (from Morrisons for less than a pound) which stays in the freezer) Here's the link for the eye drops .The homeopathic remedies we use are mixed pollen (30)and euphrasia (30) after consulting a homeopath years ago for the hayfever. There are different remedies for the different symptoms so get some advice from a homeopath. As for the eye drops, I drop them in with ds laying his head in my lap. Hope the waffle helps you. Good Luck.

I would also recommend bee pollen but it will take a few weeks to start working.

nelsons pollena for a homeopathic remedy but u have to take this repaetedly to build up the immune system

Stay indoors in the early evenning, when the pollen in the atmosphere begins to sink back to earth. Keep windows closed. Give her sunglasses to ear outside in the day. Try a nose spray.

It's so hard, I sympathise. If stuffiness is keepping ds awake I sometimes give him calpol - i think it takes away the discomfort that keeps him awake.
