Norovirus season has begun!

Well, it's that time of year again - norovirus is about and I'm crapping myself (no pun intended!)

I had it a few years ago and I was so, so ill. My dm had it at the end of last season and came down with it again on Wednesday. She's still feeling pretty rough, and a friend of ours had it last weekend.

As an emetophobe I find it really hard to deal with anything like norovirus so am on edge from mid September to beginning of March.

I read that a few hospital wards across the country are closed due to it and it has swept through the passengers of a cruise ship Shock

Anyone else feeling anxious at the thought of it?

I am always anxious about it too. Then this morning, my youngest threw up. And you know, it was fine. I cleaned up and sat him with a bowl the rest of the day and no catastrophe befell us :). And strangely, although I am a little worried about the other two ds and me and dh, I am way less anxious than I might have been if it Amanda snuck on me like that right at the beginning of the season. Worrying and waiting all season for it is way worse.

Not Amanda obviously - stuck auto correct. It should say hadn't.

You know I think you may be right. Once you or dc have had it, it's done.

I also read about a vaccine for noro, and if we went back to copper taps that would cut down on the rate of people infected. The copper does something to the virus that stops it breathing.

Will have to look into that a little more.

Hope your dc is feeling better soon

Oh bloody hell now i'm anxious too :( I thought it was too early?! Not heard of anyone who's ill in our area, just plenty of coughs and colds.

To make matters worse I'm going into hospital in November. If they made a vaccine for it i'd have it no matter how much it cost and i'm an emetophobe too :(

I struggle with illness in my older DD as she has severe atypical febrile seizures which could be fatal if untreated, so I think my reaction to fevers is understandable, butsince having DC I'm getting more and more worried about stomach bugs and sickness.

Usually because I always catch them and I hate being sick. Its the unknown of when they will hit that bothers me, and clearing the mess up too.

My youngest DD has had the rotovirus vaccine, I would happily take the noro vaccine too! We are absolutely anal about hand washing in this household!
