Yes they are two different analgesics.

humphryscorner · 04/10/2013 19:44

^^^^ worked in a pharmacy for a few years .

LEMisdisappointed · 04/10/2013 19:44

You can take them both up to you if you stagger I would as codiene makes me feel sick

Stinkyfeet · 04/10/2013 19:46

If in doubt, google the number of a late opening chemist and ring the pharmacist Smile

Somethingyesterday · 04/10/2013 19:47

Yes - from GP; pharmacist; hospital. Be careful not to take the co-codamol for longer than prescribed. Think it's three days?

MillyMollyMandy78 · 04/10/2013 19:48

Work in drs and previously pharmacy... Absolutely fine

NotQuiteCockney · 04/10/2013 19:50

Yup, they are fine. They are different drugs and each of the three uses a different mechanism. (Some drugs do clash, you can't take iboprofen and diclofenac together, for example.)

TigerBabyyy · 04/10/2013 19:54

What about for babies and children?

olivo · 04/10/2013 20:13

Thank you. Hospital only gave me 3 days worth of cocodamol, guess that is why. Feeling pretty rough so would like to take them both!

TigerBaby - you can use ibruprofen and paracetemol together in children/babies, obviously at lower doses that are in calpol for instance. Codeine is NOT suitable for children under 12.

TigerBabyyy · 04/10/2013 21:55

LEM

Could i give my 12month old 2.5 ml of ibruprofen as instructed on the label and 5 ml of calpol as on the label together?

LEMisdisappointed · 05/10/2013 10:16

Yes, that should be ok but bear in mind that the dose is every four hours for paracetemol and every six hours for ibruprofen. I am only speaking from personal experience, not a pharmacist, if you are unsure check with a pharmacist.
