OP posts:
MaryAnnSingleton · 15/10/2013 19:51

welcome knitting and bugger- I'm also an advanced bc lady.
Hooray for a clear amber
Swimming was really good,no annoying people. Nearly lost one of my diamond studs though which serves me right for not taking them out...I'd've been gutted (am bad at keeping earrings) as my mum gave them to me.
GBBO and will try not to get irritated by 'i'm rubbish,me' Ruby and Mr Hollywood.

OP posts:
Marshy · 15/10/2013 20:03

Agree MAS Mr Hollywood is far too aware of how sparkly his eyes are, and Ruby needs to start acknowledging how good she is. Love Sue Perkins.
I'm in the comfy room

Gigondas · 15/10/2013 20:14

She has changed from I am rubbish to pretending that doesn't know what she is doing which is clearly bollocks.

I would need a lot of Wine to eat some of these.

Marshy · 15/10/2013 20:22

hmmm.....beetroot doesn't really go with a nice chilled glass of white for me gigs

Can't really talk on the cooking front though as I'm sitting here chomping a takeaway [grim]

thegreylady · 15/10/2013 20:22

I was dx in October 2006 with triple negative idc ( invasive ductal carcinoma). I was 62 and tnbc is usually one for younger women. Mine was 2cm and grade2. I was lucky as my lymph modes were clear and they got clear margins despite some dcis round the tumour.
I had wle (wide local excision) followed by chemo 4xfec and 4x taxotere and 15 rads. Taxotere was horrendous but here I am where I never believed I could be.
I hope the rest of you have as good outcomes as possible.
My stats after treatment were 82% chance of being alive after 5 years and 78% after 10 years. But at that time tax was vermy new as treatment for primaries and I have since been told its use improves those stats considerably for tnbc.

Marshy · 15/10/2013 20:23

well, a bit grim but I meant Grin

amberlight · 15/10/2013 20:27

Greylady, aye - the newer third generation regimes of chemo have been v good for tnbc. And better still, new drugs doing very well in trials for anyone who finds theirs sneaks back when they're not looking.

Marshy · 15/10/2013 20:41

logging off for tonight everyone - see you all tomorrow

foofooyeah · 15/10/2013 20:42

Evening all, big wave to newbies.

I'm 48 diagnosed in August. Started as small lobular 1.3 but MRI revealed a lot more hiding and ductal. So almost halfway though 6 FEC, MRI again soon to see if its working. Current plan is MXprob in new year and rads.

topsyturner · 15/10/2013 20:45

Hello Knitting and welcome .
Sorry you are here .
You must still be in complete shock .
Give yourself some time for it to all sink in , and be kind to yourself x

Gigs I will have my candle lit for you tomorrow .

KK if you are out there , (((((x)))))

topsyturner · 15/10/2013 20:46

Forgot to add to my life story that I'm 44 , have a DS 14 and DD 10 . And I live in Northern Ireland .

Gigondas · 15/10/2013 21:02

How did a certain someone stay in bake off?

malteserzz · 15/10/2013 21:11

No idea gigs I was shocked !

PictureThis · 15/10/2013 21:15

God only knows! She should have gone last week.

trice · 15/10/2013 21:22

I was diagnosed at 34 with dcis, had mx which revealed a 7cm tumour. Had clearance 8/12 had cancer. Did 4x EC then 4x tax radiotherapy. Was fine for 5 year on tamox ifen then lung mets. Curren
tly on capecitabene.

I have 2 dcs 11 and 7.

Great news from Ruby and Amber. Fingers crossed for Gigs. Hello to knitting and sorry to hear your news.

foofooyeah · 15/10/2013 21:29

On a far more trivial note have a horrid big spot thing on my chin? Anyone else had skin problems on FEC?

kitkat1967 · 15/10/2013 21:51

sorry foo but on FEC I had the most beautiful skin - the only good thing about it for me. Sadly not so great on Tax Sad.

malteserzz · 15/10/2013 22:05

I've had spots since being on both fec and tax Hmm

All newbies make sure you book onto a look good feel better session, having cancer losing hair, eyebrows lashes etc really knocks your confidence but that does help a bit plus you get a lovely big bag of freebie make up Smile

topsyturner · 15/10/2013 22:12

FEC made my skin beautiful also !
Completely hairless , everywhere , but beautiful skin ... Grin

jchocchip · 15/10/2013 22:26

Oh we are doing a round up! Dx in 2011 grade 2 invasive ductal less than 2cm. Had lumpectomy (wle) and sentinel node biopsy not in nodes so just 4 or 5 weeks of rads and tamoxifen. Still get paranoid at every little bump but was back at work 5 months after I found my lump. I'm 47 now and have 3 dcs youngest 15.

Waves to newbies. Sorry you have found yourself here :(

Well impressed with your swimming, mas! Do you think I can get up early and go for a swim before work, or will I have a lie in?

GoodbyeRubyTuesday · 15/10/2013 22:40

Along similar lines to malt, just popping on as I have the free Boots magazine and apparently they now have Macmillan Beauty Advisors at the No7 counters, so might be of interest to some :)

Chemo was fabulous for my skin too, got rid of my rosacea and KP, neither have come back yet.

Welcome to knitting, my update post is a few before your first, I've had bowel cancer too. Sorry to hear your news, but welcome to the thread, we will do our best to support you :)

Just thinking we haven't heard from either of the sparkles for ages! I hope both are okay x

gigs :( grrrrr. Everything crossed that it's just a node from flu jab. Or a muscle thing. I can't use real candles here but I have some battery ones so will 'light' one for you tomorrow :)

really I hope the flowers helped and will be thinking of you tomorrow.

kitkat that's how I see it, why not me. I don't have any expectation that life is somehow fair so I think that helped me accept it. Plus the good in my life far outweighs some cancer so I still feel blessed. Life does seem exceptionally unfair to some people though :(

Waving to everyone. Long day today so bed now. Goodnight x

kitkat1967 · 15/10/2013 22:40

I second getting your names down for a Look Good Feel Better session - I went last week and had a very enjoyable morning out. At the moment all my new products are still in the bag as I like looking at it Blush

Shootingatpigeons · 15/10/2013 23:51

gigs Lots of handholding and hugs for tomorrow, and hoping it will be good news. Also I will be dropping by some superior beans for your toast..... (No tinned potatoes in the food parcels around here....)

knitting Sorry to see you here. We are good for hugs and handholding

Oh yes the chemo spa, clear skin, weight loss, hair removal.......

Mary and Paul moved the goalposts again for teacher's pet Ruby*, suddenly it doesn't matter that it looks like a dog's dinner as long as the flavours are there. Hmm

Did you see the story that Paul said that he wasn't favouring Ruby for her looks because Kimberley was more his type Shock well out of his league IMHO......

KurriKurri · 16/10/2013 04:21

Gigs loads of love for tomorrow - I am thinking of you. xx

BetsyBoop · 16/10/2013 05:31

Tentatively emerges from tax cocoon.... (still fat and bald though Grin)

Gigs will be thinking of you and everything crossed for good news.

KK and topsy

Ruby and amber yeah :) :) :)

Welcome to all the newbies, though sorry you find yourselves here.

to everyone else and sorry if I've missed important stuff whilst hibernating.

Round-up: dx 31/5/13 ILC with some IDC, multifocal 7,2.5,2cm tumours Er+Pr+her-. No grading info from biopsy. Chemo first= FEC-T- had my final dose last thurs. surgery next mid Nov, then rads.
