When will the itching start?

Ds has chickenpox - spots on torso, neck & few on head. Most of them now have liquid head. When will they start being itchy and when should I start putting on calomine lotion? He's fine in himself, maybe a bit more tired than usual. Just keep expecting things to get worse!

How old is your DS? Both mine had it earlier in the year, ds was 3yr 7mth at the time and itched like a mad man about a day or so after the first blistery spots appeared. DD was 8.5mth and didn't really itch, but in herself was much worse (grumpy/off food/general crying - very unlike her) for a couple of weeks, whereas DS understood what was happening and apart from being told not to itch was generally 'himself'. You can now get a cream calomine which is much better than the lotion - you can apply more and it doesn't run all over the place, also doesn't smell as bad. I would start applying cream/lotion now and carry on until spots dry up and crust over. Hope he's feeling better soon
