LetsFaceTheMusicAndDance
I guess I start..
My cervix is on the outside, it can't all hang where it should and no manner of pelvic floor exercises or devises will get it back there.
I'm 41, one fab dd and wanted more but there you are, can't now can I?

This thread, hopefully, will be for those waiting, recovering or supporting

Just had a call. I have to go in for half five and may not see the anaesthetist until tomorrow. Stressy as I haven't had a pre op assessment so there's be no chance to ask questions/talk about epidurals. Sad

shewhowines · 08/10/2013 16:18

They are keeping you in overnight before the op? I didn't think they did that anymore.

Good luck. At least it will soon be over.

Minimum if six weeks to my op??

Posterior and anterior prolapses to repair as well as the hysterectomy ( yes dear doctor, it really does cause me LOTS of problems... Told you)
Catheter for a while, the associated risks when they are close to bladder and bowel walls. Associated physio to learn bladder control again afterwards etc so I guess it is lavender water for Christmas to complete the old lady smell Grin
I have to ring tomorrow for the exact date an time but I guess the last week of November

I guess you don't feel too happy tonight. Sounds as if the op is going to be worse than you thought and still a 6 week wait. What a nightmare.

Looking on the bright side, at least everybody will have to pander to all your wishes over christmas and you won't feel as if you need a rest after it, like we normally do.

Trim for catheter and pant line and a bit below shave for stitches if you are having horizontal or vertical incision.
I had to consult my midwife sister for this info.Grin
No need to wax it off ime.
best of luck with it all.

Cocolepew I am taking it easy for def.
Brain fog is natures way of keeping you on the sofa .
I've to get an antibiotic drip up tomorrow by community nurse as wound is quite infectedSad. Everyone is quite amazed I wasn't given an antibiotic on discharge, particularly the practice nurse.
Grr.
My new tip is to get audiobooks as apparently the tome I was reading was far too heavy for me:(

I was told not to carry anything post op. Nurses seemed to think that me carrying a full catheter bag was ok. Seemed to coincide with them not really wanting to empty the bag fOr me. Anyway could barely lift it and have to shuffle it around whilst receiving no help. It was rather upsetting. I discharged myself on the third morning after my op. Hope your experiences are better x

Hope your infection is clearing up crem . My vertical scar was glued and steri stripped. The surgeon has made a very neat job of it. I was amazed at how neat it was. I was given antibiotics when I left but that was because of my catheter and was for urine infections, not my wound.

I made such good progress in the first couple of weeks, I thought I'd be fine now, 4 weeks down the line. But I'm not. I still can't walk far, although I'm walking properly now, rather than shuffling. Probably a ten minute proper walk or 40 minute mooch around a garden centre.

Hope letsface is ok today.

I'm not here for myself, but for my dm. My dm has had fibroids for quite some time and very heavy periods since 37, she is now 52 and still menstruating. She has had tests and she isn't menopausal or peri-menopausal yet but her fibroids have been checked again and she now has one that fills the whole of her womb. She is sick of being fobbed of about her age and how she shoul stick it out etc and the constant bleeding all down herself. It costs her an absolute fortune in pads because of the flooding.

She hasn't had a biopsy, just a normal abnominal scan, but so far all she has had is one follow up appointment, they are yet to tell her what they propose to do!!
How long on the waiting list would she need to wait for a hysterectomy if they indeed agreed to surgery?

She also has issues with her bladder due the fibroid/s because of pressure issues and also gets tummy pains too.

I'm very worried about my dm as she seems to be fobbed off all the time. The doctor doesn't want to know and the hospital have already changed her follow up appointment to a later dateConfused

Does she have any hope of a hysterectomy at the age of 52 with large fibroids? Or will she be fobbed of for another few years until she finally reaches menopause and continues to have

shewhowines · 09/10/2013 11:51

Perhaps someone else can answer that. I only had to wait 3 weeks because mine was due to cancer.

Sounds like she is a good candidate for one, but I don't suppose they see it as particularly urgent.

pumpkinsweetie · 09/10/2013 12:18

Thankyou shee, sorry to hear you had cancer, hope you are recovering nowThanks

Pumpkin it took ages for the my consultant to get to suggesting a hysterectomy. There are other options available like zoladex and the novasure treatments. I had both before finally being offered a hyst.
Waiting list here was 2 years from consultation .
Your mums situation sounds v similar to mine. Large fibroids, heavy flooding, squashed bowel and bladder , constant running to loo, mood swings, weeping, fury.

In her current situation I might consider paying for a private consultation , or asking to be referred to another consultant for a second opinion.

Thanks pumpkin. Yes it has not spread to the lymph nodes, so I don't need chemo and that should, hopefully,be it. Smile

shewhowines that is a great result from the biopsy, if you could, I bet you would be skipping around the room Grin

I'm just hacked off today, rang, as told, to get the precise date and time etc etc to be told that they forgot the MRSA swab yesterday and therefore cannot book me in until that is done... so I go back on the 28th.... which put me probably post Christmas.. unless there is a cancellation.

I do wonder about private, don't have a clue how we could fund it but I have been told not to do anything that will further damage things (no coughing, sneezing, lifting, running, jumping singing... anything that involved core muscles or tensing my pelvic floor etc)

I know that this wont kill me, but DH goes away to work abroad for a bit in the new year! would be good to be mobile before he goes!
