Four year old can't stop weeing.

I have vague memories of threads like this in the past. My four year old is weeing way too much. He gets very thirsty too. We've tested his blood sugar (with his brothers diabetic testing kit) and it's normal ... but things have got worse over the last week or so.

He came out of nappies at night at the age of two, then went back into them at the age of three. He just can't seem to stop himself weeing at night and now I've noticed he's weeing too much during the day.

Someone mentioned food intolerances. He hardly has any dairy as it is.

I'm stumped. Does anyone know any more or have any info about where I could get him tested for food intolerances. My doctor has no idea and neither has my homeopath.

go back to the Dr and demand that they do more tests....

They do sound like classic diabetic symptoms. Get a second opinion from your GP? maybe see a different one in the same practise if there is one? I hate it when you know something isn't right and you get sent away with no support or help from the GP's

Might be worth checking the allergies thread as well?

He might have a UTI?

Dd1 went through a phase of weeing a lot at night every hour she was on the loo ,which drove me mad and kept waking me.She had urine tests which were fine and eventually my gp suggested that it might be behavioural (as was 8 weeks from my due date at the time)and it turned out she was right!Dd was obviously worrying about me having the baby because it suddenly stopped when dd2 was about 2weeks old.

Thanks for the responses. I know the symptoms are classic diabetes symptoms as ds1 has type 1 diabetes ... but we've tested ds2's blood ourselves and there's no doubt at all that it's normal.

I wondered about food intolerance. I don't think it's emotionally based because it has gone on so long. It has got more acute over the last week or two.

Perhaps a UTI. I suppose I should take a sample in to the GP then?

sorry spidermamma - I was just agreeing with you having tested as - DB is type 1 and I'm borderline, so watching DS for symptoms. Reread my post and it sounds like Im suggesting getting a second opinion on the Diabete's - lack of punctuation sorry - you will be far more of an expert on that than the GP is - DB's consultant told him that the patients know far more about the condition than the doc's do.

Yes might be worth trying to get a sample to take to GP's - I was told recently that if it's cloudy probably have an infection of some sort.

What does DS say about weeing so much?

as well as seeing all the doctors you can, give a dose of worm medicine to be on the safe side!
my DS has been checked out for UTIs at consultant level and we had lots of worry. it was worms irritating the bladder. (not that we ever saw any....)

does he eat much bread spidermama?
Apparently excessive weeing can be caused by a yeast infection.

Can you test his wee for glucose?
