Never had it before, but does this sound like cystitis to you?

For two days now, I've had the following symptoms:

General tiredness
Achy lower back achy pubic bone
Slightly sore throat
Bloated lower abdomen
Slight nausea
Mild headache

I'm wondering if I should make an appointment to see my GP, or wait a couple more days as a quick google told me cystitis usually goes in 4 days?

Thanks for reading Thanks

do you feel like you need to pee a lot and does it sting when you do

senmerrygoround · 25/09/2013 19:06

Maybe pee a few more times than normal, but it doesn't sting

It sounds like a general vague type of virus to me, not like cystitis.

nhs says:

Cystitis in men and women can cause:

*pain, burning or stinging when you urinate
*needing to urinate often and urgently but passing only small amounts of urine
*urine that's dark, cloudy or strong smelling
*urine that contains traces of blood (haematuria)
*pain low in your belly (directly above the pubic bone), or in the lower back or abdomen
*feeling unwell, weak or feverish

I am a regular sufferer of cystitis and it doesn't sound like any bout I have ever had.

I would book an appointment with the GP to find out what it is as it has gone on for a few days now.

Without the sore throat & headache, that's often how I feel when I've had cystitis. I don't always get the stingy, burning wee - sometimes its just peeing a lot more often & never really feeling like you've fully emptied your bladder,I.e you need to go again 5secs later.

So in short I don't know-could you be generally run down? It does sound more like a virus but I'm no Dr. If you're worried or it persists get thee to a Dr. Hope you soon feel better.

Thanks everyone. I'll make an appointment in the morning

sounds like a virus, not cystitis. lots of colds etc going round at the mo.hope you feel better soon

blissa · 25/09/2013 21:34

Sounds very much like I've been feeling, minus the sore throat. I also hurt on my left side.

GP did a urine test today and turns out I do have some sort of infection. She was surprised as it doesn't hurt to pee.

Make an appointment for tomorrow and try not to worry Smile

senmerrygoround · 25/09/2013 21:51

Thanks that's (a bit) reassuring Smile
