If my period doesn't turn up in the next 24 hours I am going to explode

It is nearly 2 weeks late.

I felt ok until yesterday but now my tummy feels so bloated I could pop it with a knitting needle and my boobs are swollen.

If it were logistically possible I'd swear I was pregnant, but it isn't and I'm not.

How are you today casaca?

fuzzpig · 25/09/2013 19:17

Very frustrating. I have has similar before and it turned out to be because of a severe UTI - I had none of the symptoms of it so had no idea until I went to the doctor!

casacastille · 25/09/2013 20:58

Still waiting...Sad

I have no idea what is going on. Doctor's appointment on Sat morning.

Gosh, that's ages away.

Time to go out in white jeans?

casacastille · 25/09/2013 22:17

Grin definitely time for desperate measures!

I'm baffled though, and a little bit worried now. The last time this happened it was at a time of unprecedented stress. But that was over 3 years ago and since then everything's been normal and regular, give or take a day.

How old are you? Im 40 and over last 5 months have had two periods when its been v light then stopped, then come back again and most recently one day hardly anything bleed and now vanished...4 days later... Still waiting. Am usually regular as clockwork. Thinking it may be perimenopause?

casacastille · 25/09/2013 22:39

I'm 41.

It did cross my mind but I've decided I'm in denial about that. But it's quite likely I suppose. I just thought I had at least 5 more years before having to think about that sort of thing?!

Yes having talked about this with my mum your age was my first thought. She talked about having periods that just 'brewed' for longer and longer.

brettgirl2 · 27/09/2013 13:14

but yes 41 is young to start menopause, although not crazily so.

digerd · 27/09/2013 15:22

My friend had her last period at 41 and never saw another again, her DD at 42.
My DD had an early perimenopause in her early 40s, then went on HRT and has no periods.

Mine carried on until I was 52, DM also in her 50s. We did not have bloating though.

JohFlow · 27/09/2013 15:28

The symptoms you describe could be those of the 'perimenopause'. I would ask your doc to do a hormonal profile to see if levels are starting to decline yet. I'm going through it at 38 (due to gynae. surgery). Can be a bit of an adjustment personally and medically. Would you consider HRT?

casacastille · 27/09/2013 21:39

Hoo-bloody-ray I was finally put out of my misery today!

I'm not liking this idea of early menopause though, or even perimenopause. In my head I'm way too young for this...

I'm still seeing my doctor tomorrow, I'll be interested to hear what he thinks.

Thank goodness you didn't explodeGrin. My DD had her FSH tested - Folicular Stimulating Hormone which showed too high and she wasn't ovulating. Blood test for that.
Good luck.
ps DD went 6 months with no peiods then had one for 2 months.

casacastille · 28/09/2013 17:01

A 2-month period sounds like hell! Your poor DD.

My GP was very reassuring, said that he'd only start to think menopause if I'd had 6 months of crazy cycles, so we'll see. Feeling SO much better today, and my clothes fit again!
