Baby poo - sorry!

Ds2 is 5 months and exclusively bf.
Ever sice he was 2 weeks old he has had orange/red bits appearing in his nappy.
Over the last two days every dirty nappy has been gloopy with quite a bit of this colour in.
Someone mentioned a possible anal fissure but I would have thought that blood in poo would be more obvious. This is gloopy like snot - sorry again! and more orangey than blood.
I'm a little worried that there might be something wrong.
He has had a succession of colds and is currently going through a quite a bad one right now, could that be the cause

Not sure about the orange/ red bits, but you definitely get snotty nappies with a cold, I remember them well!

Have you shown the nappies to a H/V?

I don't know what it is - but I would be tempted to rule out blood which will either be crimson or much darker (but not orange)

Yes, as hmc says, blood would either be bright red if it was from a fissure, or dark blackish red if it was from the intestines. I'm guessing there's no orange food he's eating, or juice or anything like that? The gloop isn't worrying as it could be definitely related to a cold. If he's had the orange / red stuff since 2 weeks old, have you shown the nappies to a hv or gp? It's probably worth it, chances are it's nothing major if it's been going on this long and not made him ill, but best to check.

Oh dear. Looks like a trip to the hv with a dirty nappy.
Thanks.
