Post baby period?

Ds is 19 weeks and exclusively breast fed.
A few days ago I had a familiar feeling. Ahhh, I thought, periods are back. But maybe not.
The cramps have been going on for a few days now but the most I've had is a pinky discharge and now it's brown.
Last time, my period returned fully and the same as before 6 months later.
I would be really grateful if anyone could reassure me.

I presume you are 'taking precautions' and not relying on breastfeeding as method of birth control?

Yes.
I'm cautious because my brothers girlfriend is 'accidently' pregnant. Or so she says....
