Someone please shake me and help me get a grip (pneumonia related)

In my most recent pregnancy (7months ago) I managed to contract severe pneumonia twice. Two different parts of lung, clear chest XR in between so definitely 2 different episodes.
The final episode put me in HDU and I was very seriously ill.
Anyway, saw a respiratory consultant and he said we could put it down to bad luck and as long as I didn't get it again outside of pregnancy that was that.

I now have a cold. Today have been feeling quite breathless, small cough.
Nowhere near pneumonia bad but I'm shitting myself so worried. This is how the other 2 episodes started - just an innocuous cold.
Someone come and tell me it'll be ok and that I'm not immuno-compromised anymore so it'll just go away

The important thing is that you recognise the symptoms. I can understand your fear, it must have been a really scary time. Sit tight and seek medical attention earlier rather than later if your symptoms get worse.
Here's hoping it is just a pesky cold x

Thanks - what's worrying me is that it just came on like a thunderclap last time. Anyway, nothing I can do is there!!

If you still feel worried tomorrow, consider going to get it checked out. I don't think any decent gp would argue with you given your history.

Please see a Gp tomorrow, if anything to reassure you.

Fingers crossed!

Both myself and my dd have had pneumonia and in all cases they developed like wildfire. Scary.
Please see your gp.

Saw gp - got blue lighted in to hospital.
Third pneumonia now in a year - going to need some serious follow up shitting it
Thank you all - I knew this was going to happen, in my gut

So sorry to hear that. I hope you recover soon. I developed asthma following two lots of pneumonia (the first was treated as Legionnaires) and had a third bout before asthma was diagnosed. I am sure you'll get checked over carefully now but maybe worth keeping in mind whether some inhalers may help to keep your lungs clear just for a while. My asthma is now well controlled with inhalers and tablets and I have managed to get through coughs, colds, swine flu in 2009 AND flu last Christmas without succumbing to pneumonia! My GP is proud of me Smile

Thank you all so much - so touching to hear your positive experiences.

It took me a year to recover from pneumonia fully - hang in there you'll be OK in the long run
