I'm 41 and my period has gone AWOL. Is this The Beginning of The End?

It is now nearly a week late.

I don't even feel pre-menstrual. None of the usual bloated, headachey, chocolate-craving, shouty insanity. That was last weekend. But no period.

Most definitely not up the duff.

I cannot be teetering on the precipice of doom at 41, can I?

Sorry to be the bad news fairy, but this could indeed be the start of menopause.
On the up side ....it took me 7 years to get through it completely, so its not over for you yet, by a long shot!!

Why not go to the GP........they can check the hormone levels for you, and let you know if its menopause or not.

Oh Sad

I thought it'd be a good 5 or more years yet...

Happened to me earlier this year. Had a very odd blip with an AWOL period. Then all back to being fairly regular since. A lot heavier and more painful than ever before though. But shorter!

That doesn't sound like much fun either.

It has happened once before, about 3 years ago at a time of intense stress. Everything went back to normal after a couple of months. I'm not stressed like I was then though, within the bounds of normal for me at least, so I doubt it's that.

I'm 46, and nearly through it, and, yes the first sign was random haywire periods in my early 40s closely followed by hormonal rage and plummeting sex drive.

Eek. Suddenly feeling very a little old.
