Went to the doctor with a mole on breast, said OK but not convinced.

I went to my doctor with a mole as it was asymmetrical, had changes in pigment (but was mostly skin colour), about 1cm wide mole which has changed colour recently.
The doctor looked for a long time and then said it was OK and benign but to keep an eye on it for changes.
I am one of those people who are rarely ill but this freaked me out quite a bit and has turned me into a hypochondriac, googling moles and skin and breast cancer stories etc.

Can someone reassure me it is OK and my imaginations of the doctor being wrong and me finding too late it is malignant, are all silly?

Please go back and see another doctor.
Work colleague of dh had a melanoma removed recently that had been misdiagnosed by the first doctor he saw. He has had to have a large excision to remove it as it had been left for a few months.

Trust the doctor. He looked for a long time and is qualified to advise you.

Try to see a different doc. If they tell you the same, then relax. Otherwise you can get a dermatology referral. Hope its nothing worrying.

Take a photo of it - leave it a week or two, and take another in the same light. If it has changed then go back.

OTOH can you see someone else anyway? He said report any changes but it has already changed so he should be referring you.

Even a dermatologist can only tell if it's cancer by doing a biopsy.

Go back. Insist on a dermatology referral. You won't relax until it's gone, will you?
