Someone tell me that I am being paranoid

I have been ill for last two weeks and was finally diagnosed with erythema nodosum last week. I had a chest xray to rule out sarcoidosis but results not back and could be another 7 days.

I have swollen lympth nodes on my neck and armpit. I am scared I have Lympthoma. I was worried about this already as the guy at my work was concerned about my bruises and told me his mum died of lymphoma and the drs thought it was sarcoidosis to start with due to the erethema and now I have read this

www.cancerresearchuk.org/cancer-help/coping-with-cancer/tips/physically/erythema-nodosum-non-hodgkins-lymphoma?script=true

I am soo scared. I am hoping I have sarcoidosis so that it is not lymphoma as apparently lympth nodes swell with sarc as well.

anyone else had sarc with erythema?

Anyone any words of wisdom at all? :(

I have no experience of lymphoma nor sarcoidosis but know about anxiously waiting for a diagnosis - my DS has cancer. It is extremely frightening and frustrating whilst waiting for results. Try to think that you have more chance of being diagnosed with something easily treatable than not.

I hope that your results come through quickly and it is not what you fear.

Thank you for your reply minimooch. I am really sorry that your ds and your family are having to battle the horrible illness, I just had a quick look at your profile and hope he is still fighting bravely.

I just didn't realise chest xrays took as long and really weird hoping it actually comes back with sarcoidosis so I do not have to go back again regarding the lymph nodes/lumps. Hopefully its all related to something underlying not serious but I know in myself something ain't right.

I had a chest x-ray and the GP didn't get the results until 16 days later, and then had to go back for 3 more from different angles. It was supposed to be just a routine one as had one 3 years ago after the flu and all was fine.

I am now wishing GP had told me what they are searching for as my mind, as it does, is veering to the worst scenario.
I was told 2 weeks for results. They were interested in looking behind my collar bone, but would not say what for??Hmm

Good luck with your results.

fireandblood · 08/09/2013 08:13

Thank you digerd. I suppose all I can do is wait and try to stop thinking about it as its on my mind every min of day :(

I don't know whether to phone tomorrow to go back up about lymph nodes or just wait until xray is back as their obv might be a reason for them on that.

I hope yours is all ok too.

I can't offer any wisdom. I wish I could.

Sometimes there is an inevitable delay in getting results. Often they discuss them in a shared meeting so even if the result is available they get a second opinion before coming back to the patient.

The delay is excruciating.

fireandblood · 08/09/2013 11:38

Thanks for replying Tireddog it nice to talk about it anyway as no one else wants to at home.

I am just wondering now if a chest xray ever comes back right away or if its just taking ages due to further investigations on it.

I have really convinced myself that something sinister is going on though. I am getting on with things but new lumbs from the erethema have come up on arms and legs so it is constantly reminding me.

I went back to drs yesterday and it was the same dr who diagnosed erythema. She felt my lymph glands and said one on neck is just pea sized and not usual for lymphoma, but due to the swelling above my collarbone has referred me to hospital and said I will get a letter or phonecall.

She also took my bloods again and signed me off. She took a urine sample and prescribed more cocodamol. She said she would chase up xray also as it is not back yet. Still worried but just a waiting game.

I woke up this morning and have excruciating pain at the top of my spine and can not move easily but have taken diclofenac(sp?) and cocodamol its helping a bit.

In my experience the longer it takes the more likely it is that it's not something horrible. However...ruling out horrible stuff doesn't mean you're well. Obviously something is up. I hope you get answers soon

fireandblood · 14/09/2013 20:35

Thank you Tireddog. The xray came back fine no sarc, blood tests all ok apart from raised platelets?

The dr went through all the tests in full only because I went back again as I fainted on Thursday morning and my oh phoned the dr,.it was 7 hours later by the time I seen them and my blood pressure was fine.

They were not concerned by this just said that they think this is all to do with a tricky viral that's caused the erythema and it will take me a good few more weeks to get over so we will see!

Good news though! just to take it easy. now my daughter has come out in Chickenpox. We will call this black September lol!
