Other half told me I fart in my sleep

Apparently I keep my partner awake by farting a heck of a lot in my sleep. I always thought that usually bodily functions (like sneezing and needing the loo) tend to shut down at night so we can get enough rest and recharge. Going to go to the doctors next week but could this be linked to a sleep disorder as I am constantly tired and I have had blood tests done and everything has come back fine. I am altering my diet to see if it helps but generally I eat healthily. I don't like beans so it won't be that (lol)
I used to suffer from colic before the lo was born and it disappeared after she was born so could it just have changed being sleep flatulant?

Everyone farts in their sleep because their muscles relax.

It's completely and utterly normal.

Your partner will do it too. It's just he's asleep and you're asleep.

It's normal.

Pudden · 06/09/2013 22:13

sounds normal to me; dh farts like a trombone and apparantly...
< according to him and dc> I fart like a dray hoss! Musical house in ours every night Grin

absentmindeddooooodles · 06/09/2013 22:16

Totally normal. Like previpus poster said muscles relax so happens alot more! Dp certinally does and so does ds whos 2.5. Pretty sure I do too........ive actually wokenmyself up a few times Blush

I've yet to hear the little one fart in her sleep. She just laughs and wails in her sleep so she probably does silent ones. And I have yet to fart myself awake

As others said it's totally normal. I fart all the time in my sleep apparently. I have woken myself up a few times farting as it scares the crap out of me makes me jump! Grin

Sparklingbrook · 07/09/2013 09:54

I always think it's funny when people say 'I have never farted in front of my DH/DP'. Er, yes you have only you didn't know it. Grin

I can't imagine it's keeping him awake though. Confused Unless you fart like a foghorn.

Montybojangles · 07/09/2013 09:55

Everyone farts in their sleep. Tell him to wear ear plugs if he's that sensitive. Or stay awake and tap him farting at night and play it back, should shut him up. It's perfectly normal. Not sure what you think your gp will do about this tbh. Your farting is not going to be causing you to feel constantly tired, snoring yes, farting no.

NothingsLeft · 07/09/2013 12:53

I've also woken up self up farting Smile

I personally find it hilarious, DH is not as amused...

valiumredhead · 07/09/2013 12:59

What everyone else said, normal.

mummyaimz · 07/09/2013 19:30

I had been told that farting in your sleep can mean a sleep disorder as you need to be somewhat conscious to actually fart in your sleep. I thought it sounded bizarre but I don't know.

My dh lets rip when he's sleeping, whereas during waking hours it's always SBDs. He's from a somewhat repressed family in relation to bodily functions whereas there's almost a sense of pride on my family must grow up
Where did you hear about it being linked to a sleep disorder? People cough in their sleep too, if they have a cold,it's just another bodily function

VivaLeBeaver · 07/09/2013 19:42

Appparantly I fart in my sleep and then giggle afterwards!

eurochick · 07/09/2013 19:48

I've woken myself (and probably my other half) up a few times. It's perfectly normal to fart in your sleep!
