Health anxiety - so worried it's stomach cancer

I have a history of gastritis going back 3 and a half years when I got a nasty bout of norovirus. Was on a high dose of omeprazole for 2 years, then managed to come off it for 9 months, then had a huge flare-up and have been back on the omeprazole since last November. I avoid certain foods which trigger it but it's basically there all the time.

I also have IBS and a gallstone (which doesn't give me attacks so far).

I am functional and have good days and bad days. I know I have health anxiety, fixated on leaving my small DC behind. But the conditions are physical.

Now I have had horrendous acid reflux/indegestion/heartburn pain, especially in the mornings, for a couple of months. I have never had this before. Didn't get it at all when on holiday last week, although I did continue to get palpitations which I get from time to time. I'm also really bloated, especially in the evenings, and have what feels like pressure on my bladder even when I don't need to go (this comes and goes).

I went to the GP who said these symptoms are all classic symptoms of the gastritis and the IBS (I didn't mention the palpitations as I had those years ago and was checked out then). She's right of course but they are new symptoms for me and I'm feeling really worried that it's stomach cancer. I had a clear ultrasound last year but the indigestion has started since then.

I need to get a grip on the anxiety so I can see what's genuinely wrong with me. Today is a bad day and I'm letting it worry me, and I know that makes my stomach worse. Vicious circle.

Any words of wisdom? Sad

Should have said the NHS website says you have to get checked out if you have gastritis and then get indigestion.

Did they ever test you for h pyelori?

My BIL had stomach cancer, but he had none of your symptoms.

If you are worried about stomach cancer, a referral from Gp for a Gastroendoscopy would be your next investgation procedure.

Good luck

hi, thanks for replying I had a gastroscopy in 2010 which showed the gastritis, and they tested for h.pylori then, which was negative.

gp is very unconcerned as it's a prior condition. Also I'm 34 and so I suppose a low risk age group? They just keep saying keep taking the omeprazole.
