I have a history of gastritis going back 3 and a half years when I got a nasty bout of norovirus. Was on a high dose of omeprazole for 2 years, then managed to come off it for 9 months, then had a huge flare-up and have been back on the omeprazole since last November. I avoid certain foods which trigger it but it's basically there all the time.
I also have IBS and a gallstone (which doesn't give me attacks so far).
I am functional and have good days and bad days. I know I have health anxiety, fixated on leaving my small DC behind. But the conditions are physical.
Now I have had horrendous acid reflux/indegestion/heartburn pain, especially in the mornings, for a couple of months. I have never had this before. Didn't get it at all when on holiday last week, although I did continue to get palpitations which I get from time to time. I'm also really bloated, especially in the evenings, and have what feels like pressure on my bladder even when I don't need to go (this comes and goes).
I went to the GP who said these symptoms are all classic symptoms of the gastritis and the IBS (I didn't mention the palpitations as I had those years ago and was checked out then). She's right of course but they are new symptoms for me and I'm feeling really worried that it's stomach cancer. I had a clear ultrasound last year but the indigestion has started since then.
I need to get a grip on the anxiety so I can see what's genuinely wrong with me. Today is a bad day and I'm letting it worry me, and I know that makes my stomach worse. Vicious circle.
Any words of wisdom?
