Do I have a Hernia?

my son was born 2 years ago and my tummy still has a pregnant shape (i get congratulated all the time which is a bit embarrassing!) but just above my belly button (which has never really regained its pre-pregnancy innie status) there is something sticking out. it disappears when i lie down but potrudes more if i try to do sit ups.
could this be a hernia or is it just what happens with some pregnancies and should just be ignored?
am going on hols in 3 weeks time so wil be looking to cover it it up!

You should get it check out. You can get an umbilical hernia usually in small babies. Hernia are less comon in women It may be that you muscle seperated through pregancy and is allowing your bowel to bulge rather than a hernia. Speak to GP and if not hernia get referral to physio. HTH

thanks for info.
i am a Size 8 and had 2 c-sections and babies of almost 9lbs each so maybe i am weak in that area.
my tummy seems to be in 2 halves and i had physio after my son was born 2 years ago to try to close the 4cm gap between my muscles. it reduced to 1cm but i was told that straining could separate them again. it is hard to tell because my tummy is so spongey and soft that i can't really feel any muscle!
i only thought about the possibility of a hernia because i had what i thought was food poisoning over the weekend (salmon) and checked in a medical book. i had unbearable abdominal pain and the the runs. it finally stopped with immodium but i did pass blood and mucous andi have terrrible tenderness in my tummy and referred shoulder and chest pain (isn't that indigestion)
