Has anyone ever tried to market the "Drink 4 litres of Water a Day" diet, because if not I think they should

I have to drink 4l of fluid a day atm (ivf related shenanigans).
I haven't been hungry in days, or able to finish a plate of food.
Sadly I feel there is no money in this idea...... Grin
Is it a crap idea?

Do you not also spend all your time on the toilet, so can't get to the kitchen to make food anyway?Grin. How do you manage to drink that much? I'm v impressed.

Pruni · 19/06/2006 20:05

It's a bleedin' full-time occupation, what with the drinking and the peeing.
It's seriously tedious but no more so than faffing about not eating food. I am just not hungry at all.

Dh drinks about tht much. He is a body builder so it goes with his seven meals a day. So you can do both! But you really do have to put a lot of effort into it...

BagelBird · 19/06/2006 20:22

I heard that you do adapt and the constant peeing slows down a bit. As well as flushing your system through, isn’t it meant to make your bladder muscles stronger and so really good for helping to prevent incontinence in later life?
I struggle with 2 litres a day, not sure i could manage 4 - very impressed :)

Earlybird · 19/06/2006 20:22

Pruni - have you lost weight? Good luck with IVF, btw.

FrannyandZooey · 19/06/2006 20:22

I have been thinking about you Pruni, and wondering how you were.

I can now imagine you in a much more true to life way, sitting on the toilet pissing like a horse.

cupcakes · 19/06/2006 20:23

do you have amazing skin now?

FrannyandZooey · 19/06/2006 20:23

(p.s. I suspect I drink close to 4 litres a day too, and I am constantly weeing - HC will confirm)

acnebride · 19/06/2006 20:24

i think the lighterlife diet includes 4l a day of water. sounds like a real trudge.

Marne · 19/06/2006 20:37

I drink 4l of fluid a day, my skin is perfect Gin, not a dry bit of skin on my body.
I don't spend all day sat on the toilet either.

I have always recommended this for losing weight. As I now have some pounds to shift myself, I am off to the tap to have another glasss of water. Grin

flutterbee · 19/06/2006 20:44

They say that when you are on a diet you should always drink a large glass of water before your meal as it makes sure you are full, always works for me.

glassofwine · 19/06/2006 20:55

Pruni - how do you do it. I'm supposed to drink loads of water as am prone to kidney stones, but just forget.

nooka · 19/06/2006 21:16

glassofwine I'm terrible on the drinking front, but dh carries his water bottle with him everywhere, and says that once you get in the habit you will realise that actually you are quite thirsty.

MerlinsBeard · 19/06/2006 21:18

i had eating disorders and this was one of the things i used to do to stop me feeling hungry

glassofwine · 19/06/2006 21:19

I can understand that, when I worked I alway had a pint glass of water on my desk and filled it without even noticing. Now I'm at home and have tried leaving bottles in each room, but it doesn't seem to work - jus not as limited to one place as I used to be.

jstbcs · 19/06/2006 21:50

yes, there is a 'water fasting diet' amasing ppl will try anything!

Pruni · 20/06/2006 06:52

Have just got up, starving, and finished the dinner I couldn't eat last night.
Usually I might have half a glass of water a day (plus tea/juice/beer/wine) so drinking this much is a serious effort. It is also: boring, tedious, dull, and makes me feel mildly vomituous. But it is at least: cheap.

Yeah, but are you losing weight?

ernest · 20/06/2006 07:14

but have you lost like 2 stone in a week. I need to know! Good luck with the IVF.

Does the bladder really firm up? I could do with loosing the weight, but last time I tried to stick to 2 litres, it just got too embarrassing, peeing constantly.

btw f&z, I know in my time I've seen and heard worse things, but your pasted image of pruni "sitting on the toilet pissing like a horse." will stay with me all day! Yuk.

Pruni · 20/06/2006 07:43

No idea if losing weight as haven't weighed myself in about a yar.
Just know I am hardly hungry and when I do sit down to food I can only eat about three mouthfuls with any joy.
Skin is a bit less dry now I come to think of it.
Brain completely fuddled though, but I am on (more) hormones so not surprising.

F+Z Grin v apt mental pic

MeAndMyBoy · 20/06/2006 07:51

LOL would be a very cheap diet. Most diets recommend that you increase your water intake to 2l a day 'cause most people don't drink any where near that most of the time - so they are half way there :). We always include increasing peoples water intake in the diet programmes we put together.

Hope the IVF goes well.

FrannyandZooey · 20/06/2006 08:19

ernest, glad to be of assistance Wink

We can now all picture Pruni, in her vest, having a big horse wee. In fact, could we have an icon for it, next to her posts?

monkeytrousers · 20/06/2006 08:22

Can't you end up flushing out good stuff with too much though?
