I took ds to the opticians last weekend, don't know exactly why, just felt it would be a good idea. To my surprise it turns out that he needs glasses (talk about maternal instinct! ). I don't have any issues with this, but the optician told me something that I'd never heard before. He said that such a tiny degree of defective vision as ds has can be corrected by wearing glasses only when concentrating, ie not for general play, out-and-about stuff. So we'll be recalled in about 2m to retest ds's vision, and the optician thinks it likely that it will be normal.
Has anyone had any experience of this?
I've been wearing glasses since I was 10 and this is a knew idea to me. I thought that with a tiny degree of myopia it was better to exercise the eyes by not wearing glasses, that using glasses would encourage 'laziness'.
Also, any tips how to get ds to remember when to wear them and when to take them off at school? And how not to lose them?!
