Help! What contraception for 35 yr old?

I haven't had to think about this for many years & I am apparently too old to go back on the pill. My GP was quite unhelpful & just listed other options without explaining about them. Having googled, I still don't know what is best.

I am forgetful. I have a very irregular & unpredictable cycle (25 - 90 days) & can have very heavy periods. Ideally, I'd have no or few periods or at least would make my cycle predictable, which is why I liked the Pill.
I'm in a new relationship & don't imagine we'd want children any time soon.

So, what are my options?

Confused

Did you know MN has a Family Planning forum?

It might be worth having a browse as there's a wealth of experience of different methods in posts there.

Have you considered a nuavaring?

I had a terrible time when I had the implant, I think had suffered from every side effect they list! My GP was very reluctant to remove it within the first year and I had to put up a real fight.

Condoms all the way now.

I've got the implant - I've had it a year and a half and no bad side effects here. I'm really pleased with it.

Find out from a doctor/nurse how your possible lupus diagnosis may affect your suitability.
