Sorry to be bearing bad news but my Onc has told me I have a limited time due to things quickly changing and growing faster than anticipated along with the having chemo that didn't do anything but make me very ill.

I have been in a very nice new hospice for the last 3 weeks but am now home. Here's where you come in, I have a couple of months at best and I
need some nice songs I want a humanist ceremony so no religious ones please. Again sorry to ask x

I recognise your name, EMIN, and admire the work you've done - what a contribution you've made to so many children's lives. The flower idea is brilliant! The song that springs to my mind is Let It Be by The Beatles - but it refers to Mother Mary - there may be others that are better, I'll have a think. Thanks

I am so sorry , what bloody bollocks !

Eva cassidy singing over the rainbow takes some beating I reckon .

But a lot does depend on wether you would like a sob fest ( my first choice ) or a celebration ?

I hope you have got a ridiculous amount of lovely people around you giving you gifts and hugs and cake x

Thank you everyoneSmile your suggestions have been furiously written down, I don't know some of them so i'll go through when the DD's and DH are all up. It's a buggerAngry but nowt I can do about it but be my usual mad self.

I have had so much comfort and love as well as practical equipment I also get very down days so swings n ladders I guess. I miss my hair Sad lost after just 2 sessions of chemoShock but then again, I love my pressure electric cushion that sort of farts when I sit on it Blush good night all much love xxx

I love let it be too- I think Mother Mary is symbolic as Our Lady to us RC's but to others could just be their mum or themselves if they are a mum?

Just remembered another one- my friend lost her baby DD to a degenerative illness- they had ' you are not alone' by Michael Jackson - it was lovely .

James Taylor's 'You've got a Friend' or Fire and Rain.
Neither religious and choices I have thought off.
I don't know you as I've only just joined the tamoxifen thread, may I wish you love and peace.
Neil Young has a few good choices too, I love Harvest Moon..

No nifty suggestions on the music, but I do love the cushion Grin. You know we're here for you on the tamoxigang thread also. I'll bring over the Brew...

earth I am so sorry- we often think of you back over on the tamoxifen thread -am sending you much love and will think about songs and whatnot.
Freesias are lovely- the scent reminds me of my brother as our house was full of them when he died.
This song is on my funeral playlist -

The sun has left and forgotten me
It's dark, I cannot see
Why does this rain pour down
I'm gonna drown
In a sea
Of deep confusion

Somebody told me, I don't know who
Whenever you are sad and blue
And you're feelin' all alone and left behind
Just take a look inside and you'll find

You gotta hold on, hold on through the night
Hang on, things will be all right
Even when it's dark
And not a bit of spark
Sing-song sunshine from above
Spreading rays of sunny love

Just hang on, hang on to the vine
Stay on, soon you'll be divine
If you start to cry, look up to the sky
Something's coming up ahead
To turn your tears to dew instead

And so I hold on to his advice
When change is hard and not so nice
You listen to your heart the whole night through
Your sunny someday will come one day soon to you

CHINA FORBES, THOMAS LAUDERDALE, PATRICK ABBEY

V v sorry to hear this.

I love Leonard Cohen and Hallelujah is one that most people will know, and although the word is religious, the song is humanist.

If it gives you and them pleasure, also think about the party afterwards. Planning things is fun. Do you want to write something that could be read out? Do you want particular colour cupcakes?

OP, this thread has brought tears to my eyes (and I'm really not a crier).

I'm so sorry for your news.

I'd never heard The Birds will Still be Singing before, but it is beautiful.

No Distance Left to Run (Blur) is about the end of a relationship but is very poignant.

My beautiful friend had a humanist ceremony she was carried into to Take That - Never Forget and we left to Bon Jovi - Living on a prayer.
She had four people speak her StepDad, her brother, her childhood best friend and her adult best friend.

So sorry to hear this, many years ago a friend of mine had a humanist funeral, I can remember vividly the celebrant saying that we were going to hear a song that summed her up (she died in an accident and hadn't made any plans herself) and in the moments before it started I wondered what it would be knowing that whatever it was would always remind me of her.

It was Lou Reed's Perfect Day and even now the first bars take me right back there. Music is so important to memories, I hope you find the perfect songs for you and are happy to share them with us.
