Could this be measels???

Took ds to e and e on tuesday as he kept falling asleep on me and had a red rash all over his body and a sky high temperature.

They could not tell me what it was but ruled out anything serious and told me to give calpol to keep temperature down.

Heard on news this morning that some kids have been getting measels and just looked it up on internet.

I think ds may have measels. The rash is still there, worse if anything, temperature gone a little but could be down to giving capol and he has a cough. Going to take him to doctors this morning.

He is so grumpy bless him too. I cannot put him down. He is 8 months.

have a look inside his mouth , if he has little white spots that look a bit like grains of salt it could be, however lots of viruses cause high temperature and rashes.

Measles usually starts as a "cold" runny nose, cough , bleary eyes, the rash follows.

Has he been in contact with a child with measles?

Don't think he has been in contact with anyone with measels. He won't let me look in his mouth, gets really upset. Taking him to doctors later just to ask.

tell the surgery you suspect measles and ask for a call out. If you take him to the surgery you could infect other children, but make sure you get seen by a doctor today. There are lots of things it could be so try not to worry but it is best to get it checked out. The white spots are the best indicator. Try to give him vit A rich foods, and if you are breastfeeding take a cod liver oil supplement - Vit A is good for helping measles recovery.
