Was on my way out to the shop, went to shut the door and the wind took it and it shut on my finger, crushed my finger taking a chunk out of one side but its not the cut that hurts but my finger, it has swelled up quite big, I have strapped it up (still had all the stuff from when I broke a finger a few months ago), I don't want to have to go to a&e on a sat so am hoping the swelling will go down and all will be ok. How long does it take for the swelling to go down?

You need to ice it and elevate it to help the swelling go down.

If it is still hurting now (24 hours later) you need to get it x-rayed.

If you can't face A&E, try a minor injuries unit, they are usually faster.

Swelling has come down and feeling much better, just looks really ugly but I don't think it's broken ( just bruised).
