I'm petrified that I may have one. Recently I have been suffering from what feels a cross between trapped wind and indegestion I'm only 26 but have been taking tons of ibroprofen for nearly a year due to severe tooth probs its started being like this in the past month after all my meals and even when I'm not eating the only thing that sorts it is milk anyone else get bad indegestion like this or could it be an ulcer... i am going to the Gp as soon as i'm accepted as i have just moved counties.

It sounds exactly like what i had although mine was through not eating and stress. Stop taking the Ibuprofen (not good on an empty stomach especially) and if it is going to be a while before seeing your gp then go to A&E to get the medication that you need. I found that when I didn't take the medication it got a lot worse and started to cause sleepless nights, and I ended up being sent home from work doubled up in pain Sad The only thing to 100% confirm that this is a stomach ulcer is to have an endoscopy but your symptoms do sound familiar. Is the pain constant, after meals, or when your in bed? (sorry to be nosey but it might help to know!)

Have just thought (sorry mind on go slow, been up all night!) have you tried over the counter stuff particularly ranitidine? May help in the interim if you don't want to go to a&e?

thanks for your reply nursetigger :)

well its like a constant really bad hunger pang that goes away after drinking milk but not after eating infact after eating I get this quick surge like u know when u get trapped wind under your ribs OUCH. It was A&e who gave me the painkillers lol diclofenic or somthing have chucked the box they are the tiny brown tablets.

Just spoke to nhs direct and they said if it gets really bad then go in to a&e.

you can get omeprazole over the counter now - it's called Zanprol. It's an acid inhibitor and it's what they use (in conjunction with other things) to treat ulcers as it lets your stomach recover.

I wouldn't take it till you have been to the GP (unless you have a long wait and then it probably is worth taking some) because you'll probably get it on prescription and he/she may give you a higher dose (and it's quite expensive without it!).

thanks foxinsocks :) will get some I think. I'm not feeling to bad today which is good

when I wrote this yesterday I though ulsers were serious but just reading things on the net earlier and now I knoe they can be treated without operations n stuff I feel so much better
