I was watching my dh lose his battle for life. he was going downhill rapidly, and was given a few weeks/two months if lucky. The following week they made a last ditch attempt with IV drugs to keep his heart going. Less that 2 weeks after that he had his LVAD op, which he wasnt expected to pull through. I was so certain he was going to die and leave me with 3 young cvhilren to bring up on my own.

He is still with us, the LVAD is going well, but we still need that much wanted/needed heart transplant. Without that we are stuck in limbo.

can you belive its been a yEAR?

Sorry don't know your full story but it sounds tragic and heartwarming all in the same moment. Well done to all of you, and bumping for someone who knows your story.

LadySherlockofLGJ · 13/06/2006 19:39

A year, but hey look at him now, thanks to the LVAD, he is making daytrips home.

And an overnight that made me cry (soppy cow that I am)Grin

he has been in hospital almost a whole year. i cant remember the exact dates as at this point he was in hospital around 5days out of 7 as he was detoriating so quickly. But i know that he was admitted for this stay just before his 26th birthday, and his 27th birthday is now just 12days away. Shock

You've all come such a long way, misdee. I think of you, Peter and the girls often.

aragon · 13/06/2006 19:57

Good to hear from you misdee. I don't get here as much as I did and I've wondered about you and your hubby. Hope it won't be too long before that much needed for transplant. You've inspired me to join the NHS Donor Register after sharing your experiences.

longwaytogo · 13/06/2006 21:47

yep our nhs donor cards arrived while we were on hols - inspired by you misdee. Hope all is going well.

financiallyembarrassed · 13/06/2006 22:36

I have read of your experiences misdee and as a result DH and I are now on the organ donor register. I really hope you get the news you need soon.

milward · 13/06/2006 22:40

Agree that your an inspiration misdee - your sharing of what's happening will have increased awareness of transplants. Where I am organ donation is taken as agreed unless you opt out formally.

i am so tearful and emotional atm, i honestly didint think that a year on he'd be alive. i am totally amazed at how stubborn he is at 'living' lol. he isnt giving up at all.

Just hoping for that call soon. Hope is fading again. cant see this ending soon tho.
