My dd is 10, she got on the scales tonight and she weighs 6st 8 1/2lb her height is 145cm.
According to the online calculator she has just gone into the over weight section. Should i be worried? my niece went through a tubby stage at this age then slimmed down at about 12. She has just start developing little breasts. But her tummy does look a bit plump. Clothes size is mostly age 12-13 depending on the shop.
I don't want it to be a big issue. Should leave well alone or try and cut down her food. She is quite active and enjoys sports and going to the park etc. I suggested we try and go for a bike ride a couple of times a week tonight. Which she thought was a good idea.

Is she wearing 12-13 for length and are waists a bit big?

Possibly no need to be "worried", but worth being conscious, checking portion sizes etc and seeing what the situation is in 6 months

Thanks crumpet. 12-13 for height and waist. Some age 12 shorts didn't fit her tummy the other day. I think i willttry and do some exercise with her.
I could do with it!!

Both my dd and her friend were the same at that age but slimmed down a lot when they started their periods. More exercise is good and watching portion sizes but I wouldn't worry too much. I can remember struggling to buy dd jeans which would fit her tummy but now at 14 she's a size 8-10 and all in proportion.

Thanks that's all reassuring. I will keep an eye but not worry and try and up the exercise a bit. She is really looking forward to a bike ride tonight. Thanks
