Strep & bottoms!

HELP - 1st time on this message thingee but I found a thread about Strep but only refers to girls and I'm really worried about my two boys (2 & 3.5 yrs old). They have a rash on the bottoms - red & sore. After a couple of misdiagnosis - the doc took a swab and said it was Strep. He's not great on over information and told us to just give them the Penicillin (which was a nightmare to get them to take - any tips on that would be wonderful) and it went away. I also made up some almond oil with tee tree & lavender which seems to sooth. But now it's back (after a nasty cold) and we are on the penicillin again - the boys spit out the medicine (I now how important it is to finish a course) the docs not keen to prescribe anything else and I don't want to keep on giving them Penicillin all the time (the last course only finished 3 wks ago). Sorry to go on but I can't find anything about this and the poor things are having real problems at night.

Hi Lizs - thanks for replying sorry it's taken so long to get back on line - rivers of green snot and a very hacky cough for all of us!!! Weird you should say impetiga - when the boys first got this infection I got impetigo on my hands (i've got eczema - & doc said that's how I got impetigo - not being a medic I'm not sure if that made sense - in too much pain at the time to ask) never had it before - horrible - but I got the boys tested and it wasn't that... Thank you v.much for the website - not one I've seen before and the pics are useful although no much fun!
